Short Story:Â The University at Albany women's golf team used a strong third round to rally for a (tied) ninth place finish at the Babs Steffens Invitational at the DeBary Country Club in DeBary, Fla.
Jessica Brown led the Great Danes, finishing in a tie for 21
st place after shooting just one over in her third round.
Head Coach Colleen Cashman:Â "It's always funny to me how we can find all the tournaments where it rains. Unfortunately, we did once again this week. The 36-hole day started out a bit rough, but that was to be expected coming out of the winter conditions at home. Once we finally got going, we finished the first round strongly and sat in a nice position in sixth place being led by a solid round of 75 by Lucia. The second 18 was not our best golf. We struggled with the conditions a bit more and as fatigue started to set in, we just couldn't put it all together unfortunately. The beginning to this morning's round was definitely the highlight of the tournament as we were only six over through a total of 11 holes - but couldn't finish it out strong enough. On a very positive note, it was extremely nice to see Jessica fire a solid round of one over par today to lead the way for us! There were certainly some positives from this tournament as well as highlighting some of our weaknesses that we will continue to work on this spring indoors."
