Finish: 5^th Place – FULL RESULTS

Short Story: The University at Albany women's golf team enjoyed a strong weekend in the rain, finishing in fifth place at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. The Gret Danes finished in second place among MAAC teams competing, finishing just two strokes behind Quinnipiac in what could be an early preview for the MAAC Championship in two weeks. Madison Kuratani finished fifth (tied) overall, highest among all MAAC golfers and highest among every other school excluding Rutgers.
 
The event was the final of the regular season for the Great Danes, who will now set their eyes on the conference finale in Florida.

Head Coach Colleen Cashman: "I'm proud of this team. Yesterday was a complete grind for 36 holes in rain and cold. Once again, we didn't get off to a super strong start, but being able to improve in each of the three rounds has been our trend lately and that's a good direction to be going. Only six shots from second place is a great accomplishment with this field of teams.
 
"Every player in the starting lineup had at least one counting round. Maddy finishing fifth with only Rutgers players ahead of her on her first time playing this course is definitely something to be proud of. Lucia firing a one under par today was exactly what she needed to give her the confidence she needs going into the conference championship. A few weeks ago, I said this team was a work in progress. Since then, I'm happy with the way we are heading.
 
"I think everyone can use a couple days off after a very, very busy last three weeks of travel and then we will regroup and come up with a game plan heading down to Disney World. Even though only three players on this squad were part of the 2024 Championship, I know for certain their desire to keep the winning tradition going! Small steps heading in the right direction and we are getting to right where we need to be at the present time. I'm excited to see what they have in store to finish this regular season off!"
