GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the season at the Marist Invitational - both the men and the women finished in third place as a team.
- Tess Fitzmaurice and Skyler Smith led all Great Danes with top-10 finishes. Fitzmaurice earned sixth place in her first race in Purple and Gold since the 2022-23 season while Smith shaved nearly 90 seconds off her time from 2023 to finish 10th.
- The men placed three in the top 20 with Chris Bertola leading the pack in 13th. Jed Elmbarki (19:22.4) and Tom Ragone (19:24.3) finished right next to each other in 18th and 19th place, respectively.
- At the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, both the men's and women's cross country teams finished fourth. The women had two runners finish in the top-20 while Elmbarki led the men with a top-15 finish.
- For the second consecutive race, Fitzmaurice finished first for the Great Dane women followed by Smith.
- Ragone and Bertola finished close behind Elmbarki.
- Most recently at the RPI Harvest Classic, the women led the pack as Fitzmaurice led her team to a first place finish with a first place individual finish. The men finished second behind Vermont with Elmbarki leading.
- Four of the five women's scorers finished in the top 10 - Smith, Iocca, and Cruz-Delgado joined Fitzmaurice.
- Ragone joined Elmbarki in the top 10 of the men's race.
UP NEXT
UAlbany will use this weekend's race to prepare for their next - the America East Championship. Both races will be held Hard'Ack Recreation Area. The conference championship race will be on November 2.
