Men’s Lacrosse Ready to Host Yale in Spring Stomp

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men's lacrosse team is set to host a non-conference matchup this Saturday night as the Great Danes host the Yale Bulldogs at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.

Leading the Pack
  • Ryan Doherty has scored 33 goals this season, more than any player in the America East. He scored four this past week in UAlbany's road win over Vermont. Doherty's 43 total points are second only to his teammate, Silas Richmond.
  • Richmond leads the America East with 49 points, averaging 4.54 per game. The junior ranks second in goals scored (30) and first in assists (29). He was named America East Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after blasting five goals and dishing out two assists against Vermont.
  • Koleton Marquis and Jackson Palumb have both contributed 17 goals, good for third on the team. Following is Daniel Kesselring (11) and Amos Whitcomb (10).
  • Defensively, Max Neeson has been a standout for the Great Danes. The junior leads the team with 20 ground balls and is tied for the team lead (Cade Galko) for ground balls with 36. He has scored four goals with the long pole this season.
  • Jacob Smith is also having a strong year on defense in his sophomore campaign. Smith has scored three pole goals, added an assist, and has totaled 34 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
  • Brady Smith has been UAlbany's go-to goalkeeper, recording 104 saves to go with an 11.46 GAA and a .475 save percentage.
  • Five different Great Danes have taken faceoffs so far this year.
 
Last Time Out
The Great Danes defeated Vermont 15-11 to win their second game in a row last Saturday. They now sit at 3-2 in America East play.
  • Silas Richmond was the star for UAlbany, scoring a game-high five goals to go along with two assists for seven points.
  • Ryan Doherty followed closely with four goals and one assist for five points. He added two ground balls.
  • Jackson Palumb recorded a hat trick of his own, dropping three goals to go along with a ground ball.
  • Max Neeson scored with the long pole early in the game. Defensively, he finished with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
  • As a team, UAlbany recorded 12 assists.

Conference play resumes this weekend with six teams set for America East action. UAlbany will be the lone team facing a non-conference opponent.

History with Yale
UAlbany has faced off against Yale on 18 occasions with a record of 6-12 Yale all-time. Yale has won the last six matchups, however, with UAlbany's most recent win coming in 2017. Last season, Yale defeated UAlbany, in New Haven, by a score of 17-10. Yale was ranked #8 at the time.

The Bulldogs come into Saturday's matchup with an overall record of 5-5 and a conference record of 3-2. The team is currently on a four-game win streak, taking down Brown, Penn, Dartmouth, and Hofstra over that stretch.
