SHORT STORY: Jed Elmbarki (2k steeplechase) and Simone Menchini (long jump) led the Great Danes in their first outdoor meet of 2025 with runner-up finishes in their respective events.

KEY NOTES

• Jed Elmbarki ran his first outdoor race as a Great Dane for a second-place finish in the 2000m steeplechase.
• Simone Menchini took the second runner-up finish for UAlbany with a 7.40m jump in the long jump. He is now ranked seventh on the Great Danes' all-time performers list.
• Hassan Abidi ran an outdoor best for a fifth-place finish in the 800m run. Steve Hines tabbed a top 10 finish in the 800m with a personal record to enter the top 10 performers list at ninth place.
• In his first outdoor race as a Great Dane, Tooni Ogunyeye ran the tenth-best time in program history in the 200m dash. The next day he added the fourth-best time in the 100m dash.
• Qualiar Newton became the sixth-best performer in the hammer throw with a 56.27m throw.
