The Third of Four Road Matches
Coming off a 3-0 loss to Quinnipiac on Sunday, September 1
st, the Great Danes look to turn their fortune around heading into a matchup against St. John's (2-1-1, 0-0 Big East). Starting in net for all four of UAlbany's matches has been
Emily Dorfman (1-3-0) who's compiled 28 saves this season with 14 goals allowed against 87 total shots for a 3.50 goals against average and 0.667 save percentage.
Next to Dorfman's 360:00 minutes on the pitch, freshman Alexis Gordan has been the Great Danes iron horse on the field whereas a defender she leads the team in minutes with 351:00 followed closely behind by redshirt sophomore
Madison Hnis.
Offensively as a team, the Purple and Gold have combined for five goals with two assists while going 18-32 on shots to shots-on-goal.
Casey Stowell leads the Great Danes with two goals and a .750 shots on goal percentage taking four shots with three on goal for a .500 shooting percentage.
Eyeing the Red Storm
St. John's will enter Thursday match having outscored its opponents 4-2 while outshooting them 62-28. Of their 62 shots they have on recorded 27 shots on goal for a 0.435 shots on goal percentage. Miscellaneously St. John's has tallied a collective 13 saves while recording 40 fouls and 21 corner kicks.
Starting in goal for all four of the Red Storms matches is Malene Nielsen (2-1-1). In net she's been St. John's only goalie to play this season, making 13 saves against 28 shots faces with just two goals allowed for a 0.50 goals against average and a 0.867 save percentage. Along with Nielsen, Defender Athina Sofroniou has spent all 360:00 minutes on the pitch for St. John's having score one goal in 2024 against Towson.
Leading the Red Storm in goals to start out the year, Jordyn Levy has found the back of the net twice, while taking nine shots with two shots on goal for a 0.222 shooting percentage and a 0.222 shots on goal percentage while receiving playing time of 251:00 minutes.
Looking back
Thursday's match will be the first between UAlbany at St. John's since February 21, 2021 which resulted in the Great Danes being taken down by a large margin of 6-1. This will be the two team's third match in 10 years to which the Red Storm hold a 2-0 series lead over the Great Danes having outscored them 9-1.
