ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany women's soccer program (1-8-1-0, 0-0-1 America East) is looking to pick up its first conference win of the season this week facing off against a pair of America East opponents in New Hampshire (7-2-1, 3-0-1) and UMass Lowell (1-7-2, 0-1).
Last Time Out:
At the start of conference play 10 matches into the season, UAlbany so far has recorded six goals in 74 shots for 7.4 shots per game percentage and going 31-74 on shots on goal to shots hold a 0.081 shots percentage and 0.419 shots on goal percentage. Of its six goals, four have been assists with the team accumulating 63 fouls to their opponents 91 while taking 23 corner kicks to other teams 93.
Casey Stowell leads the Great Danes with two goals with four different players having each recorded an assist.
Madison Hnis leads the team with 12 shots, four on goal, while Stowell and Selma Eelverum lead the team with five shots on goal. Amongst field players, M.Hnis also leads the Great Danes with 829 minutes on the pitch followed by Alexis Gordan with 820 minutes.
Emily Dorfman currently sits in second in the nation in saves per game averaging 8.5 saves a match while totaling 85 saves for the third most in the nation having spent 900 minutes in net.
Looking at New Hampshire:
The Wildcats enter Thursday's match coming off a 1-0 victory against Binghamton on Sunday, September 29. New Hampshire has recorded a total of 15 goals allowing just five to its opponents averaging 1.5 goals per match. They've totaled 135 shots for 13.5 shots per match with 56 shots on goal for 0.415 shots on goal percentage.
Leading New Hampshire's offense is Meghan Guarentene with 13 points from six goals and one assist. Having recorded 31 shots on 15 have been on goal for 0.484 shots on goal percentage. Ally Giovino is the team's leader in assists with two while Giovanna Castorina leads all field players with 891 total minutes.
In Goal, Sally Rainey has played in the full length of all 10 matches for a total time of 900 minutes having allowed five goals, 0.500 goals against average, and 0.881 save percentage from 37 total saves.
Since the 2013-2015 season, UAlbany holds a 7-3 record over the Wildcats. In last year's match at UAlbany on October 1, the Wildcats came away with a 2-1 win.
Looking at UMass Lowell:
Before their match against UAlbany, UMass Lowell will have to face Maine on Thursday, October 3 in a 6 pm match. Before that the River Hawks's last match back on Sunday, September 29 resulted in a 2-1 loss to UMBC.
The River Hawks to this point in the season have recorded just five goals while surrendering 16 averaging 0.50 goals per match and with 105 shots averaging 10.5 shots per match. With 49 shots on goal, they have a 0.467 shots-on-goal percentage.
Gaby Eckroth is the team's leader with two goals this season while Calliste Brookshire leads the River Hawks with two assists and 18 shots. Among field players, Megan Banzi has spent the most time on the pitch with 825 minutes.
Taylor Burgess has been the River Hawks primary goalkeeper with nine starts and 765 minutes spent in net allowing 15 goals while making 55 saves against a total 140 shots faced averaging 1.76 goals against average and 0.786 save percentage.
Since 2014, UAlbany is 6-4 against UMass Lowell coming off a 2-1 loss against the River Hawks last year in Lowell, Mass on October 22, 2023.
