Women's Soccer Hits the Road to Play Two Conference Games

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany women's soccer program (3-9-1, 2-2-1 America East) will get to take on a pair of America East opponents this week when they travel to Vermont (7-4-3, 2-3-0 America East), and Maine (9-1-2, 5-0-0 America East).

Last Time Out:
The Great Danes are coming off a successful 3-1 senior day win against NJIT on Sunday, October 13th. The game saw goals from Selma Elverum, Flo Bartholomai, and Joanna Van Royen. The UAlbany women's soccer team are hoping to have a successful two-game road trip against Vermont and Maine before returning home on Thursday, October 31 for their Halloween Spooktakular match.
 
So far this season UAlbany has scored 12 goals in 13 matches averaging 0.92 goals per game while recording 105 shots, 45 on goal, for an average of 8.1 shots per game and 0.429 shots on goal percentage.
 
Selma Elverum and Casey Stowell lead the team with five points, each from two goals and one assist. Elverum leads Stowell in shots with 18 total, nine on goal for a 0.500 shots on goal percentage. Stowell has 12 total shots, five on goal for a 0.417 shots on goal percentage. Alexis Gordon continues to lead the field players in minutes with a total of '1090 played.

Emily Dorfman (3-9-1) continues to lead in minutes for keepers with '1156:16 played. Dorfman continues to be second in the nation for total saves with 112, giving her a 0.794 save percentage. In the game against NJIT, senior, Gabriella Terranova played '13.44 and had two saves, giving her a 1.00 save percentage.
 
Looking at Vermont:
The Catamounts will enter Thursday's match coming off a 2-nil loss against UMass Lowell on Sunday, October 13th. Vermont has scored 26 times while surrendering 19 goals to their opponents while taking 207 shots, 91 on goal, for an average of 14.8 shots per game and 0.440 shots on goal percentage. They have received a total of 11 yellow cards and zero red cards thus far.
 
Bailey Ayer is the Catamounts' leading goal scorer have recorded nine goals and four assists for 22 points off 41 shots, 20 on goal, for a 0.488 shots on goal percentage. Forward, Kate Bossert is right behind Ayer with 15 points from six goals and three assists. Ayer has a total of 29 shots, 11 on goal for a 0.379 shots on goal percentage.
 
Kylee Carafoli (6-3-2) has been the team's predominant keeper in net having made 11 starts in 11 appearances where she's recorded 38 saves, and 14 goals allowed for a 1.40 goals against average and 0.731 save percentage. Dani Pollard (0-0-1), Sydney Slusser (1-0-0), and Vanessa Smith (0-1-0) have also shared minutes in goal for the Catamounts.
 
In the Great Danes' last match against Vermont back on October 26, 2023, the Catamounts shut out the Purple and Gold 3-nil.
 
Looking at Maine:
The Black Bears will enter the match on Sunday coming off a 2-1 win against UMBC. Maine will also come in as the conference leaders for the America East conference.  
 
After 12 games, the Black Bears have recorded 22 goals while allowing ten against their opponents and average 1.83 goals scored per match. In total, they've tallied 201 shots for an average of 16.8 shots per game while going 92-201 in shots on goal to shots.  
 
Abby Kraemer and Jordane Pinette lead Maine with 12 points each. Kraemer has 12 points from four goals and four assists, with a total of 51 shots, 20 on goal for a 0.392 shots on goal percentage. Pinette has 12 points from five goals and two assists, with a total of 21 shots, 13 on goal for a 0.619 shots on goal percentage.
Defenders Myla Schneider and Anna Phillips lead the field player in minutes, Schneider with '1080 and Phillips with '1068. Phillips also leads the Black Bears in total yellow cards with three. In goal, Jessica Kasacek (8-1-2) has started 11/12 games for a total of '990 played. Kasacek has ten goals against for a 0.91 goals against average, and 23 saves for a 0.697 save percentage.
 
September 24, 2023, was the last time these two teams matched up against one another which saw the Black Bears come away with the 3-nil victory.
