GREAT DANE REWIND 

• UAlbany opened the season with an explosive 5-2 victory over Northeastern. It was the Great Danes' first win in the all-time series against the Huskies.
• Facing two nationally-ranked teams - #22 Ohio State (8/28) and #11 Penn State (9/3), UAlbany saw its first two losses.
• The Great Danes went 2-0 with wins against Colgate (9/9) and Cornell (9/11).
• Most recently, UAlbany secured a 3-0 victory over Yale (9/18) to tally their fourth straight win 
• Sophomore Alison Smisdom leads the team with seven goals and 16 points. 
• Freshman Sophia Schoonmaker follows with four goals and nine points while graduate student Elaina Burchell sits right behind with three goals and seven points.
• Senior goalie Hannah Mangan has started 5 games. In 311:31 minutes, she owns a 1.54 goals against average and a .733 save percentage. Against Yale, she notched her first career shutout.

 
ABOUT CALIFORNIA

• Seeing six games in 2022, the Golden Bears own a 1-5 record. 
• After falling to #24 Miami (OH) (8/26) and Ohio (8/28), Cal defeated Bellarmine (9/2).
• Most recently, the Golden Bears tallied three losses to Indiana (9/4), #2 North Carolina (9/9), and #18 Wake Forest (9/11). 
• Sara Stone leads the team with three goals and six points. 
• Monica Arteaga and Rachel Buttinger follow with four points each. 
• Rachel Buttinger and Jane Onners are the top assisters for the Bears with two each. 
• Cato Knipping has served in goal for all six contests, tallying a 3.72 goals against average and a .629 save percentage.

 
SERIES AGAINST THE GOLDEN BEARS 

• California leads the all-time series, 2-1.
• Most recently, the Great Danes won their 2021 competition in overtime. Alison Smisdom scored both goals for UAlbany.
• The first meeting in the series was an overtime match in 2008.

 
ABOUT MAINE

• The Black Bears own a 4-3 record.
• After falling to #25 UMass (8/27) and #1 Northwestern (8/28), Maine recorded their first victory against Dartmouth (9/2).
• The Black Bears own a three-game win streak with victories over Hofstra (9/9), Kent State (9/11), and Northeastern (9/18).
• Mallory Mackesy leads Maine with five goals and is tied with Sydney Meader with 11 points. 
• Poppy Lambert follows behind with three goals and eight points. 
• Four Black Bears lead with three assists each - Meader, Julia Ross, and Madisyn Hartley.
• Mia Borley has served in goal for six contests, tallying a 1.50 goals against average and a .778 save percentage. Senior Mallory Drayer follows behind with one start and 105:53 minutes, tallying a 3.97 goals against average and a .632 save percentage. 

 
SERIES AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS 

• The Great Danes lead the all-time series, 18-15.
• Maine has won each game since 2018 when UAlbany beat the Black Bears for the America East Championship title.
• Throughout the 2021 season, the teams met on two occasions - during the regular season and in the America East Championship.
• Both contests resulted in a 2-1 loss for UAlbany however the title game went into shootouts after two overtime periods. 

AROUND THE AMERICA EAST 

• Two America East teams lead with a 2-0 record - Vermont and UMass Lowell.
• UAlbany, Maine, Bryant, New Hampshire and California all start conference play this weekend. 
• Stanford (0-2) and UC Davis (0-2) are still looking for an America East win.
