Albany, N.Y. ?  Morgan Warrington's second goal of the match in the 89th minute gave UMBC a 4-3 win over the University at Albany in women's soccer action at Varsity Field on Sunday, Oct. 26. Seniors Diana Barrera, Danielle Ethier and Amber Maisonet were all honored prior to the start of the match for their contributions to the UAlbany program.

UMBC (3-16-0, AE 2-6-0) got on the scoreboard first when Erin Johnson's shot from the top of the box was redirected in by a UAlbany defender in the seventh minute. Warrington doubled the Retriever lead in the 17th minute when she was fed the ball down the middle from Danielle Kell, sending a low shot past UAlbany goalkeeper Maisonet.

Rebecca Lee cut the lead in half on a corner kick in the 20th minute. After the freshman took the corner from the left side, the ball was intercepted in the air by UMBC goalkeeper Christine Bacinski. However, the referee had ruled the entire ball had crossed the goal line when she landed.

UAlbany (3-17-0, AE 1-7-0), which outshot UMBC by a 29-18 clip, would take a one-goal lead heading into the break. Katie Grant took a pass from Teresa Boring and potted her shot in the back of the net in the 39th minute, and Lee added her second goal of the match directly after a Retriever foul.

The Retrievers tied the match up for the second time in the 67th minute when Brooke Piper took a shot after receiving a pass from JoAnne Jackson. With the clock winding down and overtime looming, Warrington fired in the game winner off the post with just 1:04 remaining on the clock.

UAlbany's Maisonet saved seven Retriever shots on 18 chances in her final appearance for the Great Danes. UMBC's Bacinski made seven saves on 29 shots to earn the win.

The Great Danes will return nine of their 11 starters next season, including all of their goal scoring, 98.1 percent of their point production and the entire starting line of defenders.
