Men’s Lacrosse Dominates for First America East Victory

Short Story:
 The University at Albany men's lacrosse team set the tone early and never looked back. Fueled by hat tricks from Koleton Marquis, Silas Richmond *, and Jackson Palumb, as the Great Danes dominated UMass Lowell for a decisive 17-6 victory.
 
*With three goals scored, Richmond officially reached the 100 career goals mark.

We worked really hard this week on a lot of the situational things that take place in-game, and I thought we were really prepared. We took last week's game to heart and responded with a great game this week."
  
How it Happened:  
  • The Great Danes wasted no time getting on the board, as Daniel Kesselring found the back of the net just 32 seconds into the game.
  • UMass Lowell responded quickly, with Johnny Soi netting an unassisted goal at 12:25 to even the score.
  • UAlbany reclaimed the lead just 11 seconds later when Max Neeson struck for a long pole goal to put the Great Danes ahead once again.
  • Koleton Marquis extended the advantage, scoring twice in quick succession. His first goal came off an assist from Jacob Moran, followed by an unassisted tally to push UAlbany's lead to 4-1 with 9:16 left in the first.
  • The River Hawks cut into the deficit nearly five minutes later, as Maverick Chedel found the back of the net to make it a two-goal game.
  • With just over three minutes remaining in the opening quarter, Silas Richmond notched his first goal of the day to put the Great Danes up 5-2.
  • Marquis secured his third hat trick of the season with a goal in the final minute of the quarter.
  • Ryan Doherty tacked on one more for UAlbany with just 13 seconds left, sending the Great Danes into the second frame with a commanding 7-2 lead.
  • Jackson Palumb opened the second quarter scoring at 9:51 off a feed from Richmond.
  • Less than a minute later, Richmond found the back of the net himself, finishing a pass from Doherty to make it 9-2.
  • James Reid added an unassisted goal at 8:28, continuing UAlbany's offensive dominance.
  • With 1:35 remaining in the half, Marquis tallied another, this time off a setup from Parker Emmett.
  • UMass Lowell's Danny Burke closed out first-half scoring with an unassisted goal at 0:17, but UAlbany entered the break with a commanding 11-3 lead.
  • UAlbany opened the second half with an unassisted goal from Jackson Palumb at 13:34 to extend the lead.
  • UMass Lowell answered just under four minutes later, as Colby Frigon capitalized on a feed from Danny Burke to make it a 12-4 game.
  • With 2:26 left in the quarter, Daniel Kesselring struck unassisted to add to the Great Danes' advantage.
  • Just 15 seconds later, Silas Richmond secured his hat trick, finishing a setup from Jacob Smith to push UAlbany further ahead. The goal marked the 100th of his collegiate career.
  • Palumb followed up with his own hat trick at 1:34, this time assisted by Emmett.
  • UMass Lowell found the net twice in the final moments of the quarter - Garrett Murphy converted a pass from Griffin Sumwalt at 0:30, and Johnny Soi tacked on an unassisted goal with just 1.3 seconds remaining.
  • Despite the late push from the River Hawks, UAlbany maintained control heading into the final frame.
  • UAlbany continued to build on its lead in the final quarter, as Jackson Palumb struck unassisted at 6:37.
  • Just over a minute later, James Reid found the back of the net off a setup from Silas Richmond, adding to the Great Danes' dominant performance.
  • With no further scoring, UAlbany closed out a dominating victory, 17-6.
