How it Happened:
  • Penn was first to strike when Chris Patterson scored three minutes into the game.
  • Penn's Cam Rubin had a clean look from the near side two minutes later, burying a shot from 10 yards out to put the Quakers ahead 2-0.
  • Ryan Doherty got the Great Danes on the board with 8:50 on the clock, taking a feed from Silas Richmond from behind the net to make it 2-1.
  • Penn responded quickly with a goal from Griffin Scane less than two minutes later, pushing the lead back to two goals.
  • With 3:53 remaining in the first, Penn pushed the lead to 4-1 off the stick of David Provost. With 1:49 on the clock, Penn's Scane made it 5-1.
  • The Great Danes took momentum back shortly after, scoring three-straight goals. Koleton Marquis found Doherty in the middle of the field for his second goal of the game before time ran out in the first quarter. Shortly into the second, Max Neeson electrified the UAlbany sidelines with a long pole goal before Silas Richmond collected his first score of the year to make it a 5-4 game.
  • The Quakers scored the next two goals to push the lead back to three goals at 7-4 with six minutes remaining in the first half.
  • The final goal of the first half was scored by Penn's Scane with 1:22 left, leaving UAlbany in a 4-8 hole heading into the locker room.
  • Penn scored the first goal of the second half two minutes in to push the lead to 9-4, courtesy of Jacob Pacheco.
  • Joey Carino scored his first of the year for UAlbany on a bouncer with 11:33 on the clock.
  • Penn answered with back-to-back goals scored within seconds of one another, both scored by Chris Patterson.
  • Koleton Marquis scored his first as a Great Dane midway through the third, cutting the Penn lead to 11-6.
  • Silas Richmond put a Penn defender in a blender, using a spin move for a wide-open goal with 6:20 left in the third.
  • Penn's Ben Smith increased the lead to five goals once again a minute later. Penn's Patterson made it a six-goal lead three minutes after that with a behind-the-back goal, 13-7.
  • The first goal of the fourth quarter didn't come until almost 10 minutes in, when Alex Pfeiffer scored from far out to make it 13-8.
  • Penn's Ben Smith responded 1:27 later to take the wind out of UAlbany's sails. It would be the last goal of the game.
