Short Story: The University at Albany men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season to Colgate, 14-19. The game moved to UAlbany due to weather and field conditions after originally being scheduled to be played at Colgate.

Head Coach Scott Marr: "It certainly wasn't the way we expected to come out and play, but that's on my shoulders. It's my responsibility to get this team ready to play, and I did not do a good job with that today. We'll be better on Tuesday."
How it Happened:
- Colgate recorded the first goal of the game off the stick of Jack Turner four minutes into the game, Liam Connor added an assist.
- Turner made it a 2-0 game less than 20 seconds later, ripping it in from 10 yards out. Rory Connor was credited with the assist.
- The Raiders pushed the lead to 3-0 with 8:54 remaining in the first quarter when Turner netted his third of the game for an early hat trick, forcing a UAlbany timeout.
- The score moved to 4-0 less than a minute later when Colgate's Ryan Favaro picked up a ground ball right outside the crease, burying it up top.
- Colgate's Hunter Drouin pushed the lead to 5-0 with just under five minutes remaining in the first. It moved to 6-0 with 1:49 remaining in the first when Liam Connor found the back of the net.
- UAlbany scored its first of the game and first of the season early in the second quarter when Daniel Kesselring brought one in from the far side.
- Colgate's Turner answered shortly after to make it 7-1, but UAlbany responded with a goal from Amos Whitcomb on a wide-open net with Colgate's keeper out of position. Silas Richmond was credited with the assist.
- Rory Connor of Colgate made it 8-2 with 11:16 remaining in the second.
- Colgate scored two more goals, both by Rory Connor, with 3:18 and 2:20 on the clock in the first half.
- Ryan Doherty scored his first of the year with 52 seconds on the clock in the second quarter. Richmond added his second assist of the game, pushing the score to 10-3.
- UAlbany went just 5-14 on faceoffs in the first half and went 9-13 on clears.
- Rory Connor notched his fourth of the day just over a minute into the second half to make it an 11-3 game. He made it 12-3 moments late on an assist from Liam Connor.
- Doherty made it 12-4 with 9:33 on the clock in the third quarter, ripping a clear shot on net nearside. Richmond collected his third assist of the game on the goal.
- Colgate's Casey Quinson scored his first of the season with 7:58 on the clock in the third. Less than two minutes later, Jack Turner struck again to make it 14-4.
- Whitcomb collected his second of the game with four minutes remaining in the third on a feed from Doherty.
- Colgate then scored back-to-back goals 31 seconds apart to make it a 16-5 contest, taking the 11-goal advantage into the final frame.
- Rory Connor made it 17-5 less than 30 seconds into the fourth.
- Whitcomb collected his third of the afternoon on a feed from Ben Wimmer in front of the net, flipping it in between his legs for a highlight-reel goal.
- Colgate quickly scored back-to-back goals just a minute apart to push the lead to 19-6.
- Whitcomb scored his fourth of the afternoon with 7:20 remaining on a feed from Richmond, his fourth assist of the game.
- Doherty finished off the hat trick on UAlbany's next goal, with Richmond once again picking up an assist, making it 19-8. He scored once again just seconds later on another feed from Richmond.
- Whitcomb and Doherty scored the next two for the Great Danes to make it 19-11, before Jacob Smith made it 19-12 with a long pole goal with 2:30 remaining.
- Will Hardy put up his first goal with just under two minutes left before Alex Pfeiffer scored with five seconds left to close out the game.
Next: The Great Danes will travel to Penn next Tuesday. Fans should note that the location of Tuesday's game has been moved to Philadelphia, but was originally planned to be played in Westport, Conn.
