GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the 2022 season in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Winthrop Eagles Tournament (Feb. 18-20) before competing in the 2022 Spring Games at Madeira Beach (Mar. 3-5).
- In South Carolina, the Great Danes went 2-3 with wins against Winthrop and Ball State and losses against Robert Morris (twice) and Youngstown State. UAlbany tallied three wins and two losses in Florida - beating MTSU, Georgia Southern, and Georgetown.
- The Great Danes saw two losses at Towson (3/11) before the rest of the tournament was canceled due to weather.
- UAlbany began 'doubleheader season' at CCSU on March 16. The Great Danes swept the Blue Devils with an 8-1 win for game one and a 14-4 victory in game two.
- Ten days later, UAlbany hosted Colgate for its first home contest. After the Raiders took the first game in eight innings, the Great Danes came back for a shutout victory in game two.
- UAlbany hosted Marist (3/30) for a doubleheader. They split the series taking the first game, 5-4, in eight innings, and the Red Foxes took the second game, 6-5.
- The Great Danes opened conference season at UMBC with a three-game series (4/2-4/3). The Retrievers took the series, 2-1.
- Most recently, UAlbany hosted Army for a doubleheader (4/6). The Great Danes took away a win in both games with junior pitcher Wendi Hammond allowing zero runs in the first game of the series and junior Maddi Petrella hitting a walk-off homer to take the second game.
AT THE PLATE
- Morgan Petty leads the team batting 23-71 for a .380 batting average and a .732 slugging percentage. The junior owns a team-high five home runs and 26 RBI. For her efforts, Petty was named the America East Player of the Week after the first week of competition.
- Maddi Petrella (.371) and Katie Falotico (.338) follow with their respective batting averages.
- Falotico leads the team with 10 doubles. Her .46 doubles per game is good for fourth in the nation.
- Alexis Phillips has hit two triples on the season.
- Three Great Danes have totaled double-digit RBI - Petty has compiled 26 for the team-high while Petrella (19) and Falotico (14) follow.
IN THE FIELD
- Falotico leads the defense with 83 putouts; Petrella follows closely with 82.
- Lové Drumgole leads with 45 assists and six double-plays.
- Falotico, Maranda Jimenez, and Chloe Lewis follow with three double-plays each.
- Six different Great Danes have seen the circle.
- Briana Garrett leads with a 1.59 ERA and one shutout. Garrett pitched a complete-game shutout over Colgate (3/26), striking out three and walking none. She earned America East Pitcher of the Week honors for her efforts against the Raiders.
- Wendi Hammond has seen the most time with 69.2 innings pitched and 60 strikeouts. The junior has pitched seven complete games with 11 starts in the circle. Most recently, Hammond pitched a complete-game shutout against Army.
ABOUT MAINE
- The Black Bears are 5-24 on the season with a 1-1 record in the America East.
- With wins against five different teams - Georgia Southern, Southern Utah, Hartford, Quinnipiac and Stony Brook - Maine has fallen to UT Martin, Georgia Southern, North Dakota State (x2), George Washington, Charleston Southern, Liberty (x2), Wisconsin, New Mexico, Dixie State, Southern Utah (x2), BYU, Utah Valley (x2), Utah State (x2), Idaho State (x2), Hartford, UMass (x2).
- Jasmine Gray leads the team with a .342 batting average going 25-73 from the plate.
- Izzy Nieblas and Gabby Papushka own a team-high of four home runs. Papushka leads with 12 doubles while Kya Enos leads with three triples.
- Six Black Bears have driven in double-digit runs with Papushka tallying a team-high 18 RBI.
- Emily Reid (58.2), Alexandra Gruitch (53.1) and Gabbie Siciliano (46.1) lead from the circle. Each have tallied one complete game.
- In the field, Nieblas leads with 193 putouts and 10 double-plays while Drews has tallied a team-high 72 assists and follows Nieblas with nine double-plays.
SERIES AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 34-13.
- Most recently, UAlbany and Maine met in their regular-season series, May 5-6, 2021. The Great Danes took the series, shutting out the Black Bears in two of the three game series.
- In the second game of the series, Chloe Lewis hit an inside-the-park grand slam to help UAlbany earn the win.
- A sophomore at the time, Hammond led the Great Danes to a victory allowing no runs on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in the final game of the series.
PICKED THIRD
- The Great Danes were picked to finish third in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UAlbany tallied 27 points and no first-place votes.
- UMBC topped the poll with 35 points and five first-place votes while Stony Brook followed with 29 points and two first-place votes.
- Binghamton (20), UMass Lowell (18), Maine (12), and Hartford (6) followed to close out the poll.

AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- Winning their last five games, UMass Lowell leads the conference earning an undefeated conference slate with a 18-11 overall record.
- UMBC sits in second, owning a 2-1 conference record and a 17-5 overall.
- Stony Brook and Maine each hold a 1-1 America East record. Stony Brook edged out Maine for third with a 18-10 season record while Maine sits in fourth owning a 5-24.
- UAlbany rounds out the top five earning a 1-2 conference record.
- Binghamton sits at .500 overall (13-13) for sixth place and has not yet begun their conference slate.
- Hartford closes out the conference in seventh, owning a 11-15 season record and is looking for their first America East win.
