SHORT STORY: The Hawks tallied the first runs but the Great Danes came back to take the lead and the first game of the series, Friday.

KEY STATS
- Senior Maranda Jimenez tallied team-highs with two doubles and two RBI.
- Jimenez, graduate student Katie Falotico, and junior Emma Adams all went 2-3 at the plate to lead the team.
- Junior pitcher Wendi Hammond started in the circle, earning the win before freshman Kate Powers entered and notched her first career save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams put runners on base in the first but neither scored.
- The Hawks saw the first runs in the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the third, seniors Alexis Phillips and Lové Drumgole walked to get on base.
- Maranda Jimenez hit her first double of the day to drive in both Phillips and Drumgole and tie the score at 2.
- Katie Falotico followed with a double, and an RBI, to give UAlbany a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the third.
- In the bottom of the third and the fourth innings, the Great Danes made six outs with just seven batters.
- Bases loaded in the top of the fifth and Emma Adams notched a sacrifice, driving in freshman McKenzie Swinson.
- The Hawks followed with their own run in the bottom of the fifth.
- Kate Powers tallied a strikeout to open a second inning with three-straight outs.
- Falotico added the fifth and final run of the game before UAlbany left three on base in the bottom of the seventh to earn the 5-3 victory over the Hawks.
NEXT: The Great Danes will close the weekend series against Hartford with a doubleheader on Saturday (April 16), set to begin at 11:30 am.
