GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened its season with a 1-2 record at the Syracuse Tournament (Aug. 27-28).
- The Great Danes beat UB in a three-set match but fell to Syracuse (3-0) and UConn (3-2).
- Defensive specialist senior Charlotte Macken was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying 4.27 digs/set with 47 digs in 11 sets.
- Freshman Anissia Wong currently leads the team with nine blocks.
- With 2.33 kills/set, graduate student Danielle Tedesco is one of four standouts from last weekend. Senior Regan Wright (24), junior Kamara Kelly (24), and freshman Oren Abutbul (20), along with Tedesco (21), each earned at least 20 kills in the 11-set weekend.
- Junior Malea Stanton and freshman Elaina Wamhoff shared the setter's spotlight with Wamhoff playing in all 11 sets and Stanton missing just one over the weekend. Stanton tallied 41 assists and Wamhoff compiled 40. Stanton led with 4.10 assists/set while Wamhoff followed with 3.64 assists/set.
ABOUT MARIST
- The Red Foxes are 1-2 on the season.
- Marist opened 2021 in Arizona at the Cactus Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona.
- The team fell to Arizona and New Mexico State in three-set matches with a five-set win against UC San Diego.
- In one weekend of play, Gabriella Heimbauer led with 2.60 kills/set from 26 kills while Morgan Owens led the defense with 51 digs and 4.64 digs/set.
SERIES AGAINST MARIST
- The Great Danes hold a 3-0 lead over the Red Foxes.
- All three wins against Marist were four-set matches, including the most recent game in 2003.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- After the first weekend of contests, Binghamton, New Hampshire, and UAlbany all hold 1-2 records. NJIT will begin its season on Tuesday and Hartford, Stony Brook, and UMBC have yet to see a win.

- The Great Dane volleyball team was picked to finish first in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. UMBC and New Hampshire were voted into a tie for second place.

- After a second trip on the road, the Great Danes will host the Crowne Plaza Albany - The Desmond Hotel Volleyball Classic in SEFCU Arena on September 3-4.
