Head Coach Leigh Howard: "We're super disappointed with today's result. We have to credit Vermont for coming out hard and taking advantage of the few opportunities they had, but we need to get more out of a game like that where we had multiple opportunities to put the ball away and didn't. They have proven to be tough to beat if you let them linger and that's exactly what happened. It's time to regroup for Sunday because every point matters, especially this time of year."

How it Happened
- Olivia Piraino fired a shot from deep early in the first half. Vermont's goalkeeper, Lydia Kessel, made a save against the crossbar, preventing an early Great Danes' score.
- With 28 minutes remaining in the first half, Vermont drew a corner kick. Off the serve, Vermont redirected the ball towards the left side of the net, away from UAlbany goalkeeper Cassandra Coster, who was covering the middle. Margot Nezaj, covering the far post, headed the ball away and out of danger.
- UAlbany drew a free kick in the 22nd minute. Jasmine Colbert's attempt from 28 yards out missed just high. Later in the half, Colbert found herself in a one-on-four situation, but still got the shot off, just high and off the upper right corner of the goal.
- Just before halftime, Vermont broke through with a deep shot over Coster's head to take a 1-0 lead. The Catamounts earned the advantage at the break despite holding an 11-3 deficit in shots taken in the first half.
- The second half played out largely the same as the first. UAlbany continued to outshoot Vermont, at a rate of 9-3 over the second 45 minutes, but the Catamounts capitalized once again to take a 2-0 lead in the 65th minute. UAlbany was unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game and fell by the same score.Â
Next: UAlbany hosts its Senior Day on October 17 in the second leg of a double-header with the men's program. Both teams will play UMBC.
