UAlbany Falls to Boston U., 2-0, in America East Women's Soccer Championship Game

Boston, Mass. - Jessica Luscinski scored what would prove to be the game-winner, leading No. 13 Boston U. to its fifth straight America East Conference women's soccer championship title on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The Terriers won their 13th consecutive game and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in program history.

Luscinski started the scoring in the 15th minute, taking an assist from Tiya Gallegos from the top of the box. Luscinski, a two-time conference striker of the year, shot the ball to the left side of the goal, where it bounced off the post and into the net past UAlbany goalkeeper Jackie Ubert. The Terriers finished off the scoring five minutes later as America East rookie of the year Taylor Krebs crossed the ball from the left to Madison Clemens, who tallied her sixth goal of the season with a shot from eight yards out to just inside the near post.

Boston U., which outshot the Great Danes 12-1 in the first half, did not let up in the second, firing off 14 shots to UAlbany's three. However, Ubert played a spectacular game in the net for the Great Danes, making nine saves, en route to being named to the All-Championship Team. Kelly King and Alice Binns combined for the shutout in goal for the Terriers, with Binns making two saves in the second half. Boston U. (18-2-1) also held a 9-1 advantage in penalty kicks.

"Boston U. played great and played a full game," said UAlbany head coach Mary-Frances Monroe, whose team was undefeated in their previous seven games. "Unfortunately, we didn't pick up play until the second half. Overall, it's been a great season as we got better with each game. I'm very proud of our team and playing in our first championship game."

Senior Chrissy Klepper, who had one shot in the game, and junior Shayla Bergeron joined Ubert on the All-Championship Team. UAlbany finishes the 2011 season at 9-10-1 overall.
