Baltimore, Md. - Rebecca Lee was named the America East Conference Player of the Game after netting the lone goal in leading UAlbany to a 1-0 win over UMBC (0-12-2, AE 0-4-1) in women's soccer action on Thursday evening at Retriever Soccer Park. With the victory, the Great Danes have won three straight matches and improve to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Lee gave UAlbany the 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute on a penalty kick, making the most of her only shot on goal. The teams played a defensive battle for the rest of regulation. UAlbany outshot UMBC, 24-9, including a 15-4 advantage in the second half, but the Retrievers' Lauren Kadet made nine saves in goal to anchor UMBC's defense. UAlbany also recorded seven corner kicks to UMBC's two. Freshman Jackie Ubert also played a stellar game between the pipes for the Great Danes, stopping five Retreiver shots.
UAlbany (5-9-0, AE 3-2-0) will return to action on Sunday, hosting Maine at 12 p.m., concluding Homecoming Weekend.
