Burlington, Vt. ? Carson Laderoute tallied a goal and two assists to lead Vermont to a 3-1 win over UAlbany in America East Conference women's soccer action on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Centennial Field. The Great Danes fall to 4-8-3 (AE 1-5), while the Catamounts improve to 2-12-1 (AE 1-4).
Vermont took a 1-0 lead just over four minutes into the contest when Lexie Kaknes found the back of the net on a corner kick. Jessica Becker and Laderoute earned assists on the score. The two squads would combine for 18 shots in the first half, but the Catamounts would settle for just a one-goal lead heading into the second half.
The Catamounts upped their lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute when Laderoute converted a UAlbany turnover into a goal. The Great Danes would cut the deficit in half just under two minutes later when Ashley Tirabassi recorded her second goal of the season, a 25-yard blast to beat Catamount goalkeeper Elisa Bradley. Vermont would add an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when Gabby Bonfigli headed a cross from Jessica Becker to earn the 3-1 victory. Laderoute also earned an assist on the play.
Vermont had a 19-17 advantage in shots taken and had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Maria Liguori made four saves in net for the Great Danes, while Bradley made six stops for the Catamounts.
UAlbany will return to America East Conference action on Thursday, Oct. 25 at home against Hartford.
