University at Albany Director of Athletics Dr. Lee McElroy announced Gina Umeck will be the new UAlbany Women's Head Golf Coach.

Umeck began her career as a head coach with Barry University, which is located in Miami, Fla. While at Barry, her squad accomplished the highest Grade Point Average for all athletic teams in both 2011 and 2012 at Barry University. Under Umeck, the team earned a berth to the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Tournament and placed fourth overall. Taylor Babcock finished tied-for 25th, which was the highest finish for the team.

The San Bernardino, Calif. native played professionally on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Futures tour. She recorded three top-10 finishes as a tour play and made 90 percent of her cuts.

Umeck worked at Stanford University as an instructor for Stanford's annual summer camps. Her duties included daily golf instruction to all levels of youth, coordinating recreational activities on campus, supervision, mentoring and organization of daily golf activities.

At UCLA, she was a member of the women's golf fundraising committee, which runs an annual tournament to summon funds for the program and to maintain connections with the Bruin alumni base.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at UCLA in 2005. Was a member of the 2004 First Place NCAA Women's Golf Championship team and named to the All-Pac-10 Honorable mention and Academic team from 2001-05.
