On Thursday, September 15, 2022, the University at Albany track & field program and head coach Roberto Vives announced the addition of Lucy Ford to the coaching staff.
Ford returns to UAlbany following a three-month stint from August through November, 2020, as a volunteer coach focusing on horizontal and vertical jumping events. She departed the program for a full assistant position at Brandeis University, where she has been ever since.
Ford coached the jumpers and sprinters in her nearly two years at Brandeis, producing nine scorers at conference championships within her event groups. She also coached two record-setting teams in the 4x100m relay.
Before her original time at UAlbany, Ford was an assistant coach at SUNY Delhi, overseeing sprinters, jumpers, and multi-event athletes. There, she coached two NCAA indoor national qualifiers, as well as 12 individual and two relay conference champions. Ford also worked as a strength and conditioning coach at Delhi, working with track & field and basketball, and taught in Delhi’s Recreation and Sports Facility Management Department as an adjunct professor.
Ford holds a Master’s in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland and Bachelor’s in Communications with a minor in Advertising from SUNY Oneonta. She holds her USATF Level I coaching certification, and has additional USTFCCCA certificates in jumps, sprints, hurdles, and relays, and strength and conditioning. As a member of SUNY Oneonta’s track & field team, Ford graduated holding school records in the indoor pentathlon, the outdoor high jump, and earned two total SUNYAC outdoor titles in the high jump and heptathlon.
