Will Fiacchi, a three-year team captain and former academic All-American, enters his eighth season on his alma mater’s coaching staff in 2024. Fiacchi serves as the UAlbany Wide Receivers Coach, Passing Game Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator.

UAlbany wideouts enjoyed stellar years under Fiacchi in 2023, finishing with some of the best numbers in the entire country. Wideout Brevin Easton finished fourth in the FCS with 1,086 receiving yards and third with 13 receiving touchdowns. Not far behind, wideout Julian Hicks finished fourth in receiving touchdowns with 11 while picking up 820 yards through the air. In total, the UAlbany offense led the CAA in receiving touchdowns with 37 and ranked sixth in the conference with 242.3 receiving yards per game. Five different players ended the season with at least 200+ receiving yards. Easton would go on to sign an NFL contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hicks would go on to sign with the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to his roles of Passing Game Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator, Fiacchi served as the team’s Tight Ends Coach during the 2022 campaign. Under Fiacchi’s guidance, Thomas Greaney enjoyed one of the most prolific years any Great Dane has ever had at the tight end position. Greaney hauled in 50 receptions for 692 yards and nine touchdowns, leading all the tight ends in the CAA. He enjoyed four games in which he brought in multiple touchdowns, and three games in which he surpassed the 100-yard mark. Under Fiacchi, Greaney represented the Great Danes on the All-CAA First Team and later signed an NFL contract with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent.

The 2021 spring wide receiver lineup featured a slew of underclassmen that led the way for the Great Danes. Fiacchi was responsible for the development of the young core, including Mike Gray who led the team with 187 yards and two touchdowns. Gray was named CAA Rookie of the Week to begin the 2021 spring season.

In 2019, UAlbany’s top receiving duo of Juwan Green and Jerah Reeves combined for 24 touchdowns and over 2,000 receiving yards.  Green led the FCS with 17 touchdown receptions, and led the CAA with 1,386 receiving yards on the season.  Green set single-season program records in receiving yards, touchdowns and total receptions (83), as well as a single-game record 15 receptions at Monmouth for 245 yards, the second-highest single-game total in program history.  Green, who signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons following the season, was named All-CAA First Team, HERO Sports FCS All-America Second Team, All-ECAC First Team, AP All-America First Team, STATS FCS All-America First Team, Phil Steele Postseason All-CAA First Team, and Phil Steele Postseason FCS All-America Second Team.

Fiacchi had come back to the Great Danes as an offensive assistant in 2017 after being a quarterbacks coach and video coordinator at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y.

A 2014 graduate of UAlbany, Fiacchi still ranks as the program’s all-time leading passer with 7,150 career yards. He holds team records for most pass completions in a game (28) and career (602). He made 35 consecutive starts at quarterback.
