Short Story:
The University at Albany men's lacrosse team stormed back from an early 5-0 deficit to defeat Binghamton on the road on Saturday afternoon. After falling behind early, the Great Danes scored seven of the next eight goals and never looked back, picking up an important conference win against the first-place Bearcats.

Key Stat Lines

Head Coach Scott Marr: "Couldn't be prouder of my group. Down five goals early on the road, we dug in and chipped away. Our defense stepped it up after the first quarter and only gave up four goals! 11-4 after 5-0. Playoff type atmosphere, our best win of the season!"

How it Happened:
  • The Bearcats got on the board first 1:34 into the game on a goal from Dan Garone. They made it 2-0 a minute later and 3-0 a minute after that on strikes from Gage Adams.
  • The score moved to 4-0 with 6:51 remaining in the first on a goal from Liam Ferris. A minute later, Thomas Kelly made it 5-0 for the Bearcats.
  • UAlbany finally got on the board with 2:02 remaining in the first. Silas Richmond stole a Binghamton clear attempt before dishing the ball to Ryan Doherty for the score.
  • UAlbany made it two in a row with the first goal of the second quarter when Richmond found Amos Whitcomb down the middle for the goal.
  • It moved to three in a row for UAlbany shorty after when Richmond picked up his third consecutive assist, dishing it to Koleton Marquis in front of the net.
  • Doherty then found the back of the net for his second goal of the afternoon, putting it directly in the corner of the crossbars to make it 5-4.
  • The Bearcats were able to respond with their first goal of the second quarter with 5:24 left on the clock. Andrew Girolamo scored the goal to make it 6-4.
  • Alex Pfeiffer brought UAlbany back within a goal shortly after, scoring his first of the game.
  • The Great Danes finally tied the game with the first goal of the third quarter, courtesy of Jackson Palumb a minute and a half in.
  • Less than a minute later, Pfeiffer scored his second of the afternoon to give UAlbany its first lead of the day.
  • With 9:49 on the clock, Binghamton re-tied the game, 7-7, on a goal from Ferris, his second of the game.
  • Parker Emmett scored his first of the day with 4:33 remaining in the third to put UAlbany back ahead, 8-7.
  • A minute later, Richmond scored his first of the day on a rocket of a shot in wide-open space, 9-7.
  • With time expiring in the third, the Bearcats scored once more. Paolo Capucciati found the back of the net with just three seconds on the clock.
  • The first goal of the fourth quarter didn't come until Pfeiffer capped off his hat trick five minutes in, moving the UAlbany lead back to two goals at 10-8.
  • With 1:55 left, Marquis scored on an empty net goal, but Binghamton responded quickly with another goal from Ferris to cut the lead back to two.
