SHORT STORY: Completing the sweep over the Black Bears, the Great Danes secured a share of the America East Regular-Season Champion title.

KEY STATS
- Graduate student Caitlyn Mitros and sophomore Sara Anderson tabbed three hits to lead the team. Mitros went 3-4 with two singles and a double while Anderson went 3-3 at the plate with three singles.
- Freshman Mary Kate Murray slammed a home run into right field.
- Graduate student Maddi Petrella and sophomore Deanna Grahek each added a single.
- Three Great Danes totaled one RBI - Mitros, Petrella, and Murray.
- Just two outs into the game, graduate student pitcher Wendi Hammond reached 600 career innings pitched. Closing it out with the complete-game shutout, she totaled eight strikeouts for a season-high.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wendi Hammond opened the game strong with a strikeout from the circle. Despite two consecutive hits from the Black Bears, Hammond added a strikeout to end the top of the first.
- Caitlyn Mitros led off the Great Danes with a double down the left field line.
- Maddi Petrella followed with a single to right field to drive in Morgan Petty from second base.
- Petrella later scored to make it a 2-0 game after one inning.
- Gradually extending their lead, the Great Danes added two runs with an RBI from Mitros in the second and a home run from Mary Kate Murray in the third.
- With two consecutive singles, from Sara Anderson and Deanna Grahek, in the bottom of the fourth, UAlbany added a run.
- A couple of pitches later, Grahek scored on a wild pitch.
- Up 6-0 after four innings, the Great Danes held their lead to close out the win.
- Wendi Hammond did not allow a hit in the final three innings and struck out at least one batter in each inning to help win the game.
NEXT: The Great Danes are set to compete in the America East Championship Tournament next week. Sharing the Regular-Season Champion title with Binghamton, UAlbany owns the tiebreak over the Bearcats and will be the first seed.
