Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team was unable to keep the Georgetown bats quiet as they fell 16-5, Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
  • Connor Eisenmann got the start for the Great Danes. The Hoyas gave Andrew Williams the nod.
  • UAlbany cracked the scoreboard first with Will Binder slugging a solo shot to right field, making it 1-0.
  • With runners on the corners, a dropped fly ball proved costly as Georgetown took the lead. An infield single by Kavi Caster scored another, giving the Hoyas a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Georgetown bats stayed hot in the second inning, Jake Hyde drove in a run with a double to left and scored on a Josh Rolling double, pushing the score to 5-1.
  • Stepping up to the plate with runners on first and second, Binder scorched a double to left to score a run. The Great Danes continued to chip away at the difference with Luke Filippi hitting a sac fly to make it 5-3.
  • The Hoyas brought Andrew Citron in to pitch with one out and bases loaded in the fourth. 
  • Cooper Loyal grounded into a fielder's choice to score Ryan Ferremi from third, reducing the difference to 5-4.
  • Kyle McCaffrey came in to pitch for UAlbany with a runner on first in the fourth inning.
  • After the first two batters got on, Christian Ficca singled up the middle to score a run. Owen Carapellotti grounded into a double play that saw a run cross the plate. Joe Hollerbach drove in two more with a single to the outfield, pushing the score to 8-4. 
  • Kyle Locklear came in to start the fifth inning for the Great Danes. 
  • With a runner on, Rolling hit a two-run bomb to add on some insurance runs. Ficca followed with a solo shot to center, making it 11-4.
  • UAlbany called in Michael DiMartino from the pen in the fifth inning. 
  • Caster hit a double down the right field line to score the runner from first. Caster scored on a single in the next at-bat, giving the Hoyas a 13-4 advantage. 
  • The Great Danes brought in Cam Fuer in the seventh inning. 
  • Luke Myers drove in a run for UAlbany with a sac fly, to make it 13-5.
  • Alden Head was brought in to pitch for Georgetown in the eighth inning with two outs and a runner on first.
  • The Great Danes called Jason Goldblum in from the pen in the eighth inning.
  • Ja Sheffield added on for the Hoyas with a two-run shot to extend their lead to 15-5.
  • Luke Boule came in to pitch for UAlbany with two outs and a runner on first. 
  • Ficca knocked a double to left center to score another insurance run for Georgetown, pushing their lead to 16-5.
  • The Hoyas claimed game two, 16-5.
