Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team took game one of the weekend series against St. John's by a score of 9-5.
Head Coach Jon Mueller: ""We played solid defense and were able to stretch the lead late offensively. Scherrer settled in and kept us in the game.
Ryan Pittz had a strong outing and Banner shut the door at the end of the game. Nice step after the last weekend."

- Dan Tauken powered the Great Dane offense with three hits and four RBIs. He hit a double and his third home run of the season, also drawing a walk.
- Chris Fisher came out with two hits and two RBIs, hitting a double in the opening inning.
- Will Feil, Danny Alvarez, Victor Mazzara, and Devan Kruzinski all finished with one hit each. Kruzinski added an RBI.
- Jason Bottari scored a run and also hit one in on a St. John's fielding error.
- Dylan Banner threw two hitless innings of relief to close the game out for UAlbany.
- UAlbany finished with nine hits, five walks, and nine strikeouts – leaving 11 men on base.
How it Happened:
- Cregg Scherrer started on the mound for the Great Danes, Sonny Fauci started for the Red Storm.
- UAlbany got on the board first in the opening inning. The first run of the game came on a Dan Tauken double to right field, scoring Will Feil. Chris Fisher later added two more runs on a double of his own to score Tauken and Dylan Banner, opening the lead to 3-0.
- St. John's responded immediately in their half of the first. After a Blake Mayberry single, David Glancy sent a long ball over the left field fence to make it 3-2. The home team would take the lead before the inning ended on an RBI single from Marty Higgins to tie it and another RBI single, this time from Jace Jeremiah, to take the 4-3 advantage.
- Nick Cirelli took the mound for St. John's to start the fifth.
- Tauken tied the game at 4-4 with a solo blast to right in the fifth inning, his third long ball of the year.
- St. John's re-took the lead in the bottom half of the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Higgins.
- Ryan Pittz took the mound for UAlbany to start the sixth.
- Ben Adams came into the game to pitch for St. John's in the seventh.
- Adams was replaced by Dylan Johnson with no outs in the eighth after UAlbany started to do some damage. With the bases loaded, Devan Kruzinski singled to right to score Fisher. The next at-bat, Jason Bottari reached on a throwing error to bring home Danny Alvarez, putting the Great Danes up 6-5.
- Victor Mazzara would later score on a wild pitch to push the score to 7-5 before a Tauken Single brought home Bottari and Kruzinski, making it 9-5.
- Dylan Banner came in to pitch for the Great Danes in the eighth, replacing Ty Santabrabara who faced one batter. Banner would go on to close out the final two innings without allowing a hit.
