SHORT STORY: The Great Danes tallied a win for the first set and battled for a close score in the final three but it was not enough and Robert Morris earned the victory, Saturday.
 
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "The team battled but we weren't able to take advantage of enough situations in front of us. This was a learning weekend and we have a bunch to go over back at home starting Monday morning."
 
KEY STATS

• Freshman Anna Myhal led the team with 13 kills. Junior Sadie Brown (11) and sophomore Alexa Harris (10) also tallied double-digit kills.
• Senior Charlotte Macken topped the defense with 16 digs while Myhal also totaled 10.
• Three Great Danes tallied two service aces - junior Kaleigh Fitzgerald, freshman Zosia Szczotkiewicz, and Myhal.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Robert Morris scored the first point of the match and worked to tally a 7-5 lead in the first set. 
• After tying the score at eight, the Great Danes and the Colonials went back and forth until UAlbany tallied five-straight points to gain a 16-13 lead.
• The Great Danes continued with a 7-1 scoring run to take a 23-15 advantage.
• The Colonials earned seven straight points to close the scoring gap but UAlbany finished the set with the final two points to take the set win, 25-23.
• UAlbany scored the first point in the second set and battled back and forth with Robert Morris until gaining a 6-4 lead.
• RMU was able to gain a 17-10 advantage with two 5-0 scoring runs. 
• The Great Danes tallied their own scoring run, 9-1, to take a 22-20 lead but a late push from the Colonials led to a Robert Morris set win, 25-23.
• UAlbany began the third set with five straight points. After RMU caught up, the score remained very close for the majority of the set.
• Similar to the second set, a late push from Robert Morris led to a victory for the Colonials, 25-22.
• RMU notched a lead early in the fourth set that the Great Danes were unable to overcome. 
• Scoring points back-and-forth, the Colonials tallied one three-point and one four-point scoring run to lead to their set win, 25-18, and match win, 3-1.

 
NEXT: The Great Danes will head to Navy for the Kristen Dickmann Invitational (Sept. 2-3).
