SHORT STORY: The Great Danes jumped to an early lead and as the game came down to the final inning, UAlbany took the victory over UMass Lowell, 6-5, Thursday afternoon.

KEY STATS
- Junior Emma Adams totaled four RBI going 2-3 at the plate.
- Seniors Maranda Jimenez and Lové Drumgole added an RBI each.
- Jimenez (home run) and Adams (triple) tallied the Great Danes' multi-base hits.
- UAlbany put three pitchers in the circle - junior Wendi Hammond started and grabbed the win while Jimenez pitched for a game-high 3.1 innings and four strikeouts. Freshman Kate Powers came in for the final two outs, tallying the game-winning strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both the Great Danes and the River Hawks saw four batters each in the first inning, but the scoring did not start until the second inning.
- Freshman Sierra Fretz notched the first hit of the game in the bottom of the second.
- Emma Adams knocked a triple to right field, after Wendi Hammond drew a walk, and drove in two runs to give the Great Danes a 2-0 lead.
- Lové Drumgole added an RBI with a single to left field and UAlbany closed the second inning with a 3-0 lead.
- UMass Lowell tied the score at three in the top of the third inning.
- On the first pitch of the bottom of the third, Jimenez knocked a home run over the center-field fence.
- Hammond hit a grounder to center field to put two runners on base with two outs on the board.
- Adams drove in Hammond and junior Maddi Petrella with a single to left field to extend the lead to 6-3 at the end of the third inning.
- After two scoreless innings, the River Hawks closed the lead with a home run in the top of the sixth.
- UMass Lowell filled the bases during the top of the seventh and added one run to make it a one-run game.
- With one out on the board and bases loaded, Kate Powers took the circle. Graduate student Katie Falotico caught a foul ball for the second out and Powers closed the game with a strikeout.
- The Great Danes won the second-round victory, 6-5.
NEXT: UAlbany, the America East's second seed, will face the first seed, UMBC, on Friday, May 13 at 11 am.
