Last Time Out
UAlbany's eight-game win streak came to an end last Tuesday. The Great Danes fell to NEC opponent CCSU, 6-7. Although UAlbany struck first in the opening inning following a two-run double by Johnny Marti, the Blue Devils took the lead early in the game when they scored five runs in the second to make it 6-2. A two-run home run by Carson Dunkel in the third cut CCSU's lead before the Blue Devils made it 7-4 off an RBI single in the fourth. A scored run by Josh Loeffler on a wild pitch in the sixth and an RBI single by Chris Fisher in the seventh made it a one-run ballgame, but UAlbany was unable to tie up the game despite loading the bases in the eighth and the ninth. Relief pitchers Marshall Winn and Cregg Scherrer showed convincing performances on the mound. Winn struck out two in 1.0 inning of work, not allowing any hits or runs. Scherrer pitched 3.0 innings, giving up one hit with no runs and striking out three.
