HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Colonials jumped ahead with two runs in the first inning.
- Robert Morris took a 5-0 lead after a Colonial hit a three-run home run in the second inning.
- Headed into the bottom of the fourth, the Great Danes were down, 6-0.
- Senior Maranda Jimenez hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to drive in Falotico for the first run of the 2022 season.
- Freshman McKenzie Swinson ran in the final run for the Great Danes with Robert Morris taking a 6-2 win.
GAME TWO
SCORE: UAlbany 4, Winthrop 1
KEY STATS
- Petty led the team with two hits, including the first Great Dane homer of the 2022 season.
- Falotico tallied her first home run of the season.
- Jimenez pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts to lead UAlbany to a win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a 1-2-3 first inning, Jimenez tallied two strikeouts.
- The Eagles notched the first run with a home run in the third inning.
- The Great Danes answered in the very next half inning as junior Caitlyn Mitros singled to get on base and Petty hit a home run to gain a 2-1 lead.
- At the bottom of the fifth, UAlbany's Jimenez, Lewis, and senior Lové Drumgole combined for a double play to tally three outs in three batters.
- The Great Danes repeated their double-play action in the bottom of the sixth as Lewis, freshman Sierra Fretz, and junior Schuyler Ossman combined.
- Jimenez closed the game with two strikeouts in the final inning.
NEXT: The Great Danes will return to action on the second day of the Winthrop Eagle Invitational. UAlbany will face Youngstown State and Ball State on Saturday, February 19.
