Short Story: UAlbany secured its third-straight conference sweep to end the regular season with an 8-3 game one and 2-0 game two victory over Maine. 

Key Stats Game One
  • Maranda Jimenez (5-6) earned the win after starting and going six innings. She allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
  • Chloe Lewis hit an inside the park home run and recorded four RBIs on the play. 
  • Alexis Phillips went 1-for-1 with two runs scored and three walks. 
  • Madison Petrella went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
  • Maine starter Lilly Volk (0-3) took the loss after 3.2 innings. She allowed six runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. 
  • Jasmine Gray went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

  • Wendi Hammond (10-4) went a complete eight innings and allowed no runs on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

  • Maine pitcher Kyleigh O'Donnell (9-8) took the loss after she allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

How it Happened Game One
  • UAlbany struck first with a Madison Petrella RBI groundout in the first inning that gave the Great Danes an early 1-0 lead. Maine immediately responded back with an RBI single in the bottom half and tied the game 1-1.
  • The team's engaged in a pitcher's duel in the next two innings before UAlbany broke through in the fourth with five runs.
  • Petrella opened the scoring with an RBI single that was followed by a bases-clearing inside the park home run by Chloe Lewis. With four RBIs on the play, Lewis gave UAlbany a 6-1 lead.
  • The Great Danes added two more runs in the sixth inning on a Caitlyn Mitros RBI single and Mitros scoring on an error to give UAlbany an 8-1 lead.
  • Maine responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth with a bases loaded sacrifice fly and error that caused a run to cut the lead to 8-3.
  • Maine was unable to rally in the seventh as UAlbany earned the 8-3 victory, their eighth-straight conference win. 
How it Happened Game Two
  • Maine earned the game's first two hits in the first and second innings but did not have a runner past first base. 
  • UAlbany created the first dangerous chance in the fourth inning when Caitlyn Mitros singled and advanced to second on an error. She was thrown out at home trying to score on a Madison Petrella hit to the infield as the game stayed scoreless. 
  • Both teams only produced one additional hit after the fourth inning, both singles to shortstop in the sixth inning as the game headed to extra innings. 
  • In the eighth inning, Lové Drumgole hit a bunt single with one out. On the next play, Alexis Phillips walked and Drumgole scored on the play after an error that gave UAlbany a 1-0 lead. The next at-bat, Mitros hit a bunt single and Phillips scored on the play to give UAlbany a 2-0 lead.
  • In the bottom of the eighth inning, Wendi Hammond shut the door on Maine and secured a 2-0 victory and third-straight conference series sweep.
