  • Black Bears' pitcher Kyleigh O'Donnell went seven innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
How it Happened
  • Maine produced the game's first baserunner in the first inning when Jasmine Gray reached on an error, followed by a walk. UAlbany starter Wendi Hammond was able to escape the jam by producing a flyout.
  • The Great Danes' Caitlyn Mitros produced the game's first hit with a single in the second inning but was left on base. Neither team had another baserunner until Morgan Petty's one-out double in the fourth but she was stranded on base.
  • Mitros earned her second hit of the game in the fifth inning with a leadoff bunt single, but advanced no further than first base.
  • Hammond and Maine starter Kyleigh O'Donnell were in a scoreless pitcher's dual until UAlbany broke through in the sixth inning.
  • Alexis Phillips led off with a single and stole second base. After a pop out, Petty hit a single as UAlbany produced runners on first and third with one out. The next at-bat, Madison Petrella hit a two-run double down the left field line to give UAlbany a 2-0 lead.
  • Clenching to a two-run lead, Hammond took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. With one out, Maine's Kelby Drew hit a single up the middle to break Hammond's no-hit bid.
  • In an attempt to protect the two-run lead, Hammond got the next two Maine hitters to pop out and ground out, respectively, to secure UAlbany's 2-0 victory.
  • With the victory, UAlbany moved to 10-6 in conference play and clinched a spot in the America East Tournament scheduled to start on Thursday, May 13.
Next: UAlbany and Maine will return to the field on Saturday, May 8 for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. The games will be the final two regular season contests for each team.
