Head Coach Leigh Howard: "This win said a lot about the character of this team. We went into the game with our backs against the wall, needing to get a win to get a playoff berth. Coming away with a shutout win after matching up well against a tough Binghamton team makes our staff very proud. We have been playing all year without some key pieces to this lineup from years past and we couldn't have asked much more out of those who stepped up to the plate tonight to give us one more game at Casey Stadium."

How it Happened
- Binghamton tested UAlbany's defense early, drawing their first of eight corner kicks in the eighth minute of the game. Their ensuing shot on UAlbany's goal was saved by Great Danes' goalkeeper Cassandra Coster.
- UAlbany did not take its first shot until the 22nd minute, when Jada Colbert missed her attempt wide left. By this time, Binghamton had already taken three shots. Colbert would finish the game leading all players with six shot attempts.
- Marisa Tava got a shot off just before halftime, but her attempt was saved by Binghamton goalkeeper Haylee Poltorak. The teams went into the break tied at zero, with the Bearcats holding a slight lead of 6-4 in shots in the first 45 minutes.
- The Great Danes broke through in the 66th minute following an extended corner kick. The original serve was kicked out to the left and regathered by the Great Danes.  A field switch and another serve into the box from Natasha Fowler-Varon set up Olivia Piraino to knock the ball into the back of the net and put UAlbany up 1-0.
- Despite Binghamton continuing to hold a small advantage in shots, and large advantage in corner kicks drawn, the UAlbany defense held for the final 25 minutes of the game to clinch victory and earn a spot in the postseason. Coster finished with her fourth shutout of the season behind three saves.
- UAlbany started the day in seventh place in the America East standings, one spot out of the playoff field. With their victory over Binghamton, who started the day in second place, and losses by New Hampshire and Hartford, UAlbany jumped to fourth and earned hosting rights in the quarterfinal round. The Great Danes have now qualified for the postseason in seven of the last eight years, only falling short this past spring season during that stretch.Â
Next: UAlbany hosts five-seed Binghamton in the America East quarterfinal round on October 31.
