Recap: A strong performance in the circle from Celeste Verdolivo and a 2-for-3 day at the plate from Amelia Ely propelled the Great Danes to a 5-2 win against conference rival Binghamton on Wednesday afternoon.
Verdolivo went the distance, allowing just one earned run, as she picked up her league-leading 15th win of the season. With a walk in the fifth inning, Mariah Miramontez stretched her on-base streak to five games.
After two innings of scoreless action, Binghamton jumped on the board with a run in the top of the third for an 1-0 edge.
Fast forward to the bottom of the third inning when Aliyah Wade stepped into the batter's box with runners on second and third. Wade then used her speed to beat out an infield single that plated Love Drumgole and knotted the score 1-1. Sarah Petzold knocked in the final two runs of the inning with a long fly ball that dropped in left-center, allowing Mariah Miramontez and Wade to score.
Binghamton pulled within one, 3-2, in the top of the sixth. Sara Herskowitz hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Chloe Morgan who scored from third after roping a lead-off triple.
UAlbany was able to answer once again with two runs in the home half of the inning. Shaye Swiatek recorded her 11th RBI of the season with a bases loaded walk that scored Kelly Barkevich before Courtney Courtade made her way home on a ball put in play by Miramontez.
