Recap

Jeff Undercuffler threw four more touchdown passes and the University at Albany got yet another defensive TD to beat Rhode Island, 35-28, on Homecoming at Casey Stadium.

With the win, UAlbany (5-3 overall) improved its CAA record to 3-1. The Great Danes now have won four of their past five games heading into a bye week.

Undercuffler hit Juwan Green and LJ Wesneski twice each for touchdowns as UAlbany came back from a 14-6 deficit at halftime.

The Great Danes' defense also forced four turnovers, including a strip sack by Eli Mencer that Nick Griffin picked up and brought back 55 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 14 in the third quarter.

UAlbany scored again just two minutes later. Rhode Island fumbled the kickoff, and Alex Badine fell on the ball, giving the Great Danes possession at the Rams' 23. Four plays later, Undercuffler rifled a pass through traffic to Wesneski to make it 21-14.

After Rhode Island tied the game, Undercuffler and Wesneski hooked up again, this time on a 14-yard score that gave UAlbany a 28-21 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Green, who had caught a 62-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, brought in his second TD pass, from 10 yards out, to push the lead to 35-21 with 10:19 to play.

The Rams got within 35-28 with 4:31 to go, but UAlbany's four-minute offense was able to run the rest of the time off the clock.
