Short story: Kendra Harbinger and Sam Tortora scored four goals each, but the University at Albany women's lacrosse team lost to UC Davis, 13-11, in a neutral site game Thursday in Fresno, Calif.

Despite four-goal afternoons from Kendra Harbinger and Sam Tortora, the University at Albany women's lacrosse team was defeated by UC Davis, 13-11, on Thursday in Fresno, Calif.
Emma Powlin, Madison Conway and Kaylee Rickert also scored for the Great Danes (0-7) in the first of a two-match trip to California.
UAlbany rallied from deficits three times in the second half, the last with 9:03 remaining, when Tortora evened the game at 11.
But the Aggies (3-3), of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, got a goal Sorana Laron with 8:12 left and another from Kate Fellner with 5:42 to play to close out the scoring.
The teams had gone back and forth all game long, with neither ever holding a lead of more than three goals.
Harbinger scored the first of her three first-half goals on a free-position shot just 1 minute, 5 second into the game, giving UAlbany a 1-0 lead. Her second goal, six minutes later, tied the game at 2.
But after Tortora put UAlbany ahead, 3-2, with 17:29 to go, UC Davis ran off four straight goals, taking a 6-3 lead.
Rickert, Powlin and Harbinger all scored in the final 10 minutes of the half to narrow the edge to 7-6 at the break.
The Great Danes never led in the second half, but they twice came back from two goals behind to tie. Tortora made it 8-8 with 23:01 to play, and Harbinger's fourth goal tied the game at 10 with 15:23 left.
