Cooper Goes 2-For-2 In Softball's 9-0 Slip To Lehigh

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior Caitlin Cooper went 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of singles, but those marked the University at Albany softball team's only hits Sunday morning in the final game of the Winthrop Invitational, falling to Lehigh 9-0 in five innings. The Great Danes will return home with a 3-6 overall record, going 2-3 in the tournament.
Lehigh's Christine Campbell (5-1) earned the win, tossing four frames, and combined with Vicky Lattanzio for the shutout.
In the third, the Mountain Hawks scored four runs on four hits, including a two-run homer by Morgan Decker.
Lehigh added five runs in the fourth, stringing together five hits with a pair of back-to-back two-run doubles by Carissa Zito and Katie Schultz, and a run-scoring single by Brianna Gerhardt for a 9-0 advantage.
Sophomore Devin Durando (3-3) took the loss, throwing three and a third innings, while freshman Celeste Verdolivo came out of the pen to throw two-thirds of the fourth.
Up next, the Great Danes compete in the Delaware Spring Invitational, March 11-13, where they will take on Delaware, North Carolina A&T, and Villanova.
