Albany, N.Y.- Charlise Castro put the exclamation point in UAlbany's 8-0 victory over Maine with her seventh homer of the season on Sunday, April 1 at Albany Field. Brittany MacFawn pitched five strong innings, scattering three hits and striking out 10 batters. With the conference sweep, UAlbany improves to 5-1 in America East while Maine falls to 0-3 in conference play.

UAlbany (18-7, 5-1 AE) broke out the batters early in the third game of the weekend series with seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning. The inning was highlighted by Kylie Apostolina's bases-clearing three-run double to center.

Charlise Castro would hit her seventh home run to right field in the bottom of the second to give the Great Danes the "eight-run" rule. 

Brittany MacFawn (9-3) and Brittany Schwieger (8-2) combined for 19 of 21 innings in the series, allowing just three runs, 13 hits, two walks and striking out 26.

The Great Danes go on the road to face non-conference foes Cornell on Tuesday and Colgate on Wednesday for doubleheaders.
