Broadview Center

Broadview Center has been a staple of UAlbany Athletics for 30 years. The building, formerly known as the Recreation and Convocation Center (RACC) and later SEFCU Arena, first opened in the spring of 1992 as an $11 million state-of-the-art facility, later aiding the University in transitioning to Division I for the 1999-2000 season. Since that time, the facility has hosted many different functions since its opening including graduation ceremonies, career fairs, award shows, and student-life events. The arena is also a vital resource and partner to the Capital Region's schools and non-profit organizations and serves as the home to UAlbany’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

After going through more than $12 million in renovations from 2022-23, the building officially re-opened in the fall of 2023 as Broadview Center.

One of the most notable changes that came with the facility’s renovation was the updated orientation of the basketball court, which changed from a north-south orientation to an east-west orientation that fans see today. The change allowed for a more immersive fan experience by creating improved sight lines and upgraded amenities including premium seating, upgraded and spacious chairback seating, new and enhanced ADA seating, and new hospitality areas.

The renovated arena accommodates 3,800 fans for basketball games. Club seating is featured in the northern corners of the concourse and new VIP seating is integrated into the top rows. The south entrance received updated graphics and enhanced GDAC courtside corner access.

The top rows of bleachers in Broadview Center feature permanent seating, with the lower rows having retractable capabilities to open space for three practice courts that run north to south.

Located under the north end permanent bleachers are brand new locker rooms for the University’s basketball programs. The new locker rooms feature additional amenities for coaches and student-athletes, complete with a meeting room, lounge area, and full kitchenette.

In 2017, the University at Albany has unveiled a new video scoreboard in Broadview Arena that was made possible by a $1 million donation from Ed Swyer and Stuyvesant Plaza. The board, which still hangs above center court, provides a video feed of the game, in-game statistics, and replay for men's and women's basketball games.
