Women's Soccer Loses Non-League Match to Bryant; Look Ahead to Binghamton on Thursday

Albany, N.Y.- UAlbany women's soccer fell to Bryant, 2-1, on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Varsity Field. Senior midfielder Rebecca Lee was able to tally the Great Danes lone goal in the 31st minute on a penalty kick. UAlbany look ahead to America East play at home on Thursday, Oct. 6 vs. Binghamton at 3pm.
In the first half, Bryant (5-4-2) was able to grab an early 2-0 lead in the first 19 minutes. Junior forward Krista Johnstone found the net first with a pass from freshman midfielder Emily Barbato, that was deflected off a UAlbany defender, to grab the lead 1-0 in the 18th minute. Johnstone, 22 seconds later, launched a shot from the right corner of the goalkeeper box to the left post top shelf to give the Bulldogs a quick 2-0 lead.
The Great Danes (2-9-0) responded with a Rebecca Lee penalty kick goal in the 31st minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. But UAlbany's lone goal wasn't enough to win the match as the score would stand 2-0 as the final.
