Pierce Hendershot joined the Great Danes in the summer of 2023 as an assistant coach. He is responsible for working with the team’s position players and hitters on a daily basis while also serving as a mentor and academic advisor for new student-athletes joining the program.
Hendershot graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2023, having spent four years with the baseball program. He totaled a career batting average of .223, appearing in over 100 games for the Bonnies. He started in 80 contests, collecting 63 hits in 282 at-bats with 34 RBIs, five home runs, 17 doubles, and 26 runs scored. A standout in the classroom, Hendershot was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times throughout his career.
Hendershot is a product of Tioga Central School, where he finished with a .494 batting average, .641 on base percentage, and 115 hits. He was a two-time All-State selection, three-time All-League honoree, and All-Region First Team selection. Both of his parents, Kathy and Tom, excelled as collegiate athletes – his mother swimming at Alfred State and his father playing baseball at Kings College. Hendershot is the youngest of five, his siblings being Brandon, Brian, Paige, and Parker.
