Vestal, N.Y. - Left fielder Corey Taylor went 3-for-4 with five RBI in game two, while Peter Bregartner drove in an insurance run in the sixth inning of the opener to lead Binghamton to a doubleheader sweep of UAlbany in America East Conference baseball action on Sunday. The Bearcats won the first game, 4-2, and ran away with a 19-2 victory in the nightcap.
The Great Danes outhit Binghamton, 5-2, in the first game, but the Bearcats scored three runs in the first two innings to take the early advantage. UAlbany cut the lead to 3-2 in the sixth on a two-out, two-RBI double by Brendan Rowland, but Binghamton added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame on Bregartner's sacrifice fly. The Great Danes got a baserunner aboard in the seventh, but Binghamton's Alex Adami shut down the UAlbany offense to earn the save on the mound.
UAlbany scored two quick runs to start the nightcap, but Binghamton's hitting exploded to produce 20 hits in the nine-inning game. All of the Bearcats' position players recorded at least one hit, with all but three knocking multiple base hits, including a Taylor homerun. Meanwhile, five of UAlbany's six hits were doubles, including a shot by Rowland that drove in a run.
Kasceim Graham took the loss for the Great Danes after going four and a third innings on the mound. Zach Juliano earned the win for Binghamton (24-18, AE 15-3) after a seven inning performance with three strikeouts.
UAlbany (9-34, AE 8-10) will return to action next weekend with a three-game series at Maine.
